Wprowadzony w 2016 r. program Rodzina 500+ istotnie zwiększył dochód rozporządzalny gospodarstw domowych z dziećmi i miał wpłynąć na ich wzorce konsumpcyjne. W artykule oszacowano kohortowe modele wygładzonego przejścia na podstawie danych z Badania Budżetów Gospodarstw Domowych, w celu zbadania krótko- i średniookresowych zmian elastyczności dochodowych i semielastyczności stóp procentowych konsumpcji w czterech typach gospodarstw domowych. Analiza koncentruje się na zmianach po rozszerzeniu świadczeń społecznych i ma uchwycić potencjalne przejścia między reżimami konsumpcji. Wyniki podkreślają znaczenie heterogeniczności gospodarstw domowych w ocenie makroekonomicznych skutków transferów społecznych. Po wprowadzeniu programu tylko gospodarstwa jednoosobowe o najniższym dochodzie per capita, niezależnie od liczby dzieci, wykazały znaczący wzrost elastyczności dochodowej konsumpcji – z ok. 1,0 do 1,2. W pozostałych grupach reakcje były ograniczone (w rodzinach z trojgiem lub większą liczbą dzieci) lub nie wystąpiły (w rodzinach z jednym dzieckiem lub dwojgiem dzieci). Chociaż dodatkowy dochód prowadził do dostosowań konsumpcyjnych, ich łączny wpływ był niewielki ze względu na niski udział gospodarstw o najniższym dochodzie per capita w całkowitym popycie. W konsekwencji program nie doprowadził do zauważalnego wzrostu łącznego mnożnika konsumpcji. Ponadto analiza ujawnia zróżnicowane zmiany semielastyczności konsumpcji względem stóp procentowych, co może odzwierciedlać zmiany w dostępie do kredytu lub substytucję między konsumpcją finansowaną długiem a tą opartą na transferach.
